An elderly woman from Chester was taken to hospital last night after a fire broke out in her home.

Fire crews from Chester and Ellesmere Port were called to Daniell Way, Great Boughton , just before 10.15pm yesterday (November 1).

An investigation has been launched into the cause of the fire.

The pensioner who suffered smoke inhalation was treated at the scene by firefighters before being taken to hospital for a precautionary check.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Three fire engines were sent to a house fire in Daniell Way, Great Boughton.

“Firefighters, four wearing breathing apparatus, went into the house, using two hose reel jets to tackle the blaze.

“Gas and electricity supplies were isolated and crews used a high pressure fan to clear the smoke.

“There was one casualty reported, suffering from slight smoke inhalation.

“An investigation into the cause of the fire is being carried out.”
