VOTERS in Eddisbury might get a shock if their MP turns out to be Stephen O’Brien after the General Election.

Labour parliamentary candidate Pat Merrick wants to remind constituents that following the most recent Boundary Commission review, Eddisbury borders have shifted.

Voters living in the villages of Hapsford, near Helsby, and Dunham on the Hill have traditionally voted MPs into the Ellesmere Port and Neston seat.

But Mrs Merrick, who has close ties to the south Wirral town of Ellesmere Port, would like to remind voters that they are now included in Eddisbury.

“We knew the changes to the boundary had been made as we were told about it back in about 2005. But I do think some residents would get a shock if they find out their local MP could be Stephen O’Brien!” she said.

It comes after The Chronicle published an article last week which incorrectly claimed that Conservative Party candidate Stephen O’Brien is the only Eddisbury hopeful currently living within the constituency boundaries.

In fact, Mrs Merrick, who lives with her family in Hapsford, also resides in Eddisbury.
