LIBERAL Democrat candidate Bob Thompson took a breather from the intense counting session taking place at Winsford Lifestyle Centre to reveal "it's too close to call" between his party and Labour for second place.
It is widely accepted that Tory Stephen O'Brien will easily retain his seat in Parliament but the battle for second place, traditionally won by Labour, remains unpredictable.
Mr Thompson said: "It's looking quite tight between us and Labour at the moment. At one stage we look like we are in the lead then all of a sudden Labour get a load of votes. It's too close to call."
The Eddisbury result is still expected at about 2.30am - just one hour from now.
