THERE will be an eco-friendly way for visitors to travel to this year’s Chester Rocks extravaganza.

Organisers of the two-day music festival have joined forces with the Big Green Coach company to provide economically green transport for concert-goers who live outside Chester to travel to the event, which will be held at the racecourse over the weekend of June 15-16.

The national company, set up in 2009 to provide safe and environmentally friendly travel to music festivals across the country, has been a huge hit with festival promoters, and has become the official coach supplier to hundreds of music events.

The Big Green Coach will operate on both Chester Rocks performance days, with designated pick-up and drop-off points in Ellesmere Port, Birkenhead, Liverpool, Manchester, Stockport and Warrington.

And The Roodee, who are partners with Merseyrail, will also provide return travel on their train services from Liverpool and Wirral to Chester from £4.60 on both days.

Anthony Probyn, Chester Rocks festival organiser, said: “We are trying to make the festival accessible for our younger attendees and we envisage that parents would be cautious about letting their teenage children go to a festival with friends.

“Providing this type of transport and on-site support for them ensures a safe first time festival experience for teenagers and peace of mind for parents,” he added.

There will be a host of stars setting the stage alight at Chester Rocks this year.

Pop princess Pixie Lott will headline Saturday’s show and Manchester band The Courteeners will be topping the bill on Sunday.

Other acts include Tinchy Stryder, Katy B, Cast and Maverick Sabre.

Tickets are £35 and are available from www.ticketmaster.co.uk.
