PUPILS thanked Tarporley business people for sponsorship of a fun-filled fundraising event at Oulton Park racing circuit.

Eaton Primary School pupils invited representatives from companies who had sponsored the event for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) to a special assembly.

The pupils had taken to the race track to cycle, run and walk around the circuit in memory of Year 4 pupil Libby Moss.

The nine-year-old Libby died suddenly at school in April 2009 as the result of a heart problem.

Following her death, headteacher Darryl Pickering pledged to run the London marathon in her memory and raise £3,000 for CRY.

Eighteen companies based around Tarporley raised more than £700 after responding to a letter written by pupil Morgan Gray.

The cash was added to the £1,400 the children raised in sponsorship.
