Fundraising has been a swinging success at a Cheshire golf club which has presented more than £8,000 to charity.

Eaton Golf Club Captain for 2015 Bob Costello and Lady Captain Sarah McGeorge were delighted to present cheques totalling £8,330.55 to their chosen charities of the year.

Bob’s charity, CLIC Sargeant, was chosen for a personal reason as his grandson developed a large malignant tumour in his abdomen from which, thanks to surgery and extensive chemotherapy, he has now made a complete recovery.

CLIC Sargeant is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and their families and provided wonderful support for Bob’s grandson and his family.

Sarah’s charity BIRD is based in Eccleston and focuses on helping adults and children with brain injury or developmental problems.

The two captains said: “We are very pleased to have raised such a wonderful amount and thank all the members and staff at Eaton Golf Club for giving so generously of their time and efforts to support these deserving charities and raise such a magnificent total.”
