A nursery school in Duddon has been home to a beloved monster.

Treetops Foundation Stage Unit, at Duddon St Peter’s Primary School, gathered for a Gruffalo stay and playday to welcome their new starters.

The children had great fun creating their own woodland creatures on the interactive whiteboard as well as doing a variety of Gruffalo themed activities including painting masks, modelling salt dough faces and making crispy cakes to take home.

Head of the foundation stage unit, Claire Knight, said: “Days like this are so important, it’s a lovely way to to start the new school year. The children really enjoy welcoming our new starters and it’s a great way for all our parents to meet too.”

The day rounded off with a reading of the award winning story as the children followed the adventurous journey through the deep dark wood.
