POLICE uncovered two cannabis factories during a series of raids on suspected drug dealers in Runcorn.

The operations were hidden within ordinary family homes in the town and set up for the growing and cultivation of the drug on an industrial scale.

A dozen houses and flats were targeted by police last week following tip-offs from residents fed up of their lives being disrupted by dealers and customers.

Many were angered by the stream of addicts and users calling at the dealers day and night

Insp Richard Hill, who led the raids, said the surprise tactics were vital to prevent dealers disposing of evidence.
