A DRUG dealer has been jailed for more than two years after he was targeted in police raids.

Bernard Shaw, 44, of Hayes Crescent, Frodsham, was jailed for two years and eight months at Chester Crown Court on Friday, May 22 for dealing Class A drugs heroin and crack cocaine in the region.

He was one of 11 men jailed for a total of 25 years following Operation Strikeout, a series of intelligence led raids in Halton and Merseyside involving hundreds of Cheshire police officers.

Superintendent Jed Manley of the Northern Area said: “Operation Strikeout is the result of months of intelligence gathering by police and partner agencies.

“An operation on a scale such as this is time consuming and takes a lot of resources.

“Officers have spent many hours working on this operation – gathering vital evidence – and we hope that their efforts reassure the people of Cheshire that we will not hesitate in taking action against those found to be involved in drugs.

“We hope this will also act as a warning to others that we are actively targeting all aspects of drug related crime within the local community, arresting those responsible and ensuring that they are brought to justice.

“Anyone who is involved in the supply of drugs can never feel secure.

“These latest convictions should act as a warning to others who peddle misery that this sort of behaviour will not be tolerated.

“The public can rest assured that we will do everything within our power to ensure that those involved in drugs pay the price for their actions.”
