A CHESTER woman witnessed her front wall being crushed as a motorist lost control on Monday’s icy streets.

Gill Hopkins, of Elizabeth Crescent in Queen’s Park, was outside talking to a neighbour about another damaged wall in the street when a driver coming out of Queen’s Drive slid straight across the road, crashing in to the street sign and smashing down her front garden wall.

“The gritters always stop at the top of Queen’s Drive because this is where the bus goes,” said Mrs Hopkins.

“The road outside my house was very dangerous. My husband has a carer and when she arrived on Monday morning she was shaking.

“She had lost control of her car and spun around but wasn’t hurt.”
