A 19-YEAR-OLD woman was caught drink driving when she crashed while on the way to try to stop her ex-boyfriend harassing her.
Sarah Jane Whitehead, of Green Lane, Northwich, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol when she appeared at Vale Royal Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Magistrates heard that Whitehead had 77 micrograms of alcohol in 100ml of breath - the legal limit is 35 micrograms - when arrested after crashing her Nissan Micra on Middlewich Road on February 26.
Prosecuting Sue Gibson said: 'Police were called to a two-vehicle collision at the junction of Station Road and Middlewich Road at 8.20pm.
'When speaking to the driver of the Nissan Micra the police officer smelt alcohol on her. She admitted being in a road accident and said it was her fault.'
Defending, Quentin Querelle explained Whitehead had been having a 'bad time' after the break up of a relationship with her boyfriend.
Mr Querelle said: 'It was not an easy break-up and she was being harassed by her former boyfriend. She had been drinking during the day and it had got to a stage where she was being texted constantly by him.'
Whitehead was disqualified from driving for 20 months, fined £200 and ordered to pay costs of £20.
