A CHOIR rehearsal has seen White Christmas performed in pink.

Upton ladies’ singing group Dawn’s Chorus met for their usual weekly practice session, but did so with one big difference.

As part of the Breast Cancer Awareness month, the dynamic vocal group wore various shades of pink and donated money for charity.

The group is named after founder Dawn Smith and her husband, musical director Rick Smith, said: “I imagined a few pink T-shirts or jackets would be worn – how wrong I was!

“We are currently rehearsing Christmas songs for a number of concerts over the coming months. Having the members dressed in pink rehearsing classics like White Christmas, When A Child is Born and Santa Baby added even more fun to the usually bouncy weekly meetings.”

The group originated from staff and parents of Upton Heath Primary School and has since grown to more than 40 members.

They are a regular supporter of, and performer for, local charities and recently took part in a fundraiser for Dorin Park School in Chester collecting more than £320.

The charity secretary of Dawn’s Chorus, Rosie Bailey from Chester, said: “The Wear It Pink event raised £150 in less than two hours and was both huge fun and very rewarding. It is likely to be an annual event for us.”

They have performed professionally at Eaton Hall, Byley Village Hall, Bickerton Village Hall, Upton Heath Primary and various garden centres and fundraisers.

The choir are now offering their services to events being held to raise money for Children In Need, being held throughout November.
