A BOUNCER was spat on and his colleague racially abused during a drunken row at a city centre nightclub.

And a police officer was also assaulted as a woman’s 18th birthday celebrations turned nasty outside Cruise nightspot in St John Street on March 9.

Samantha Patrick and Phoebe Paris, both 18 and from Crewe, were hit with fines after pleading guilty to their roles in the unsavoury incident when they appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday.

Patrick, who was out celebrating her birthday with several friends, admitted using a racial slur against doorman Garfield Young before lashing out at PC Martin Redhead.

She had got into an argument with the door staff after her friend Paris had already spat at bouncer Mark Watkins for refusing her entry into the nightclub because she could not provide any proof of age.

Prosecuting Rob Youds said Paris had gone up to Watkins and ‘got in his face’ before spitting at him. The spit landed on his coat.

She was then restrained until the police arrived, Mr Youds told the court.

However, Patrick then got involved in an argument with the door staff at which point she racially abused Mr Young.

Mr Youds said PC Redhead had tried to talk to Patrick but she ‘swung her arm wildly to try and break free’ and hit him in the head.

She then kicked PC Redhead in the legs as he restrained her on the ground.

Mike Gray, defending Paris, said his client did not have a passport to prove her age because she ‘hadn’t been able to get one since her parents had died’.

He added: “She was drunk and upset, trying to grapple with her emotions. She regrets her behaviour.”

Derek McDonald, defending Patrick, said the incident was a ‘big, big learning curve’ for his client.

“It was an isolated, one-off incident – an alcohol-fuelled incident – which she deeply regrets,” he added.

Patrick was fined £100 for racially abusing Mr Young and ordered to pay him £75 compensation.

She was fined £75 for assaulting PC Redhead and ordered to pay him £25 compensation.

Patrick must also pay £45 court costs and a £15 victim surcharge.

Paris was fined £75 for spitting on Mr Watkins and ordered to pay him £30 compensation. She also incurred £45 costs and a £15 victim surcharge.
