BLACON didn’t let a bit of rain dampen their spirits as they celebrated their annual festival on Saturday.

Residents gathered on the streets to watch the parade pass by but it looked like the event was going to be rained off when the heavens opened just before it was due to start.

Fortunately, the downpour didn’t last – the sun came out for the rest of the day and before long families were arriving at Blacon High School for the event.

Attractions included fairground rides, trampolines and a popular giant inflatable slide, while many footie-mad dads lined up at the Oscar Broadband Bus for a picture of themselves with the FA Cup.

Families sat on the grass eating burgers and hot dogs as they watched competitors in the Blacon’s Got Talent contest, including breakdancing, singing and football skills.
