A dog has been running loose on the M56 this Tuesday morning (November 1).

The panicked pooch is reported to have been in the central reservation near junction 15 where the motorway meets the M53, before making a dart for the Lexus garage.

Highways England officers have been sent to the scene.

Motorists are advised to approach the area with care.

The dog is the latest in a flurry of animals causing mayhem on the M56 over the past 24 hours.

Yesterday, a swan caused a bit of a flap when it went for a wander between junctions 15 and 14, while North West Motorway Police also reported a horse on the road that same afternoon.
