DODLESTON village green was transformed into Neverland on Saturday for the annual village festival.

The theme was Peter Pan and children from Dodleston CE Primary School performed their own version of the classic children’s story. Villagers also dressed as fairies, pirates, lost boys and Indians for the occasion.

The event was opened by Samantha Whitehead, the new co-owner of Dodleston Chapel Stores and Post Office who also judged the fancy dress competition, which was won by Jamie O’Connor and Susannah Burke.

The opening was followed by a procession of school children around the village green accompanied by the Royal Buckley Town Band.

Katie Henshall was crowned village queen and Sam Christmas village king with attendants Kati-Mae Clutton, Thom Crowe and Lily Seager.

Other highlights included an energetic gymnastics display by children from Dodleston Primary School and a storyteller at St Mary’s Church.

Attractions were a tombola, bouncy castle, beat the goalie, kids glamour bar, face painting, cake stall, plant stall, BBQ and the Aunt Sally stall.

Money raised is split three ways between the Dodleston Village Foundation (DVF), St Mary’s Church and Dodleston C of E Primary School.
