DOCTOR Bike has been helping to give residents’ bikes a clean bill of health in Blacon and Lache.

The two Doctor Bike surgeries, run by Dave Coterell, were held in the Eco Home in partnership with Sustainable Blacon and in Hawthorn House in partnership with Lache Park Limited.

The surgeries, which took place during the Easter holidays, were funded by the Healthy Living Centre, through one of their BIG Lottery Funded projects and the North West Healthy Living Network.

Sessions targeted residents from Blacon and Lache with the aim of getting them to cycle more and make sure the bikes they use are safe.

At the surgeries, all bikes received a free health check and minor ailments were treated and prescriptions written for any major health work needed.

All work was provided free of charge and Doctor Bike also gave out lots of advice and tips to help keep the bikes on the road.

Nearly 40 bikes were serviced over the two days, with repairs ranging from fixing punctures to replacing brake and gear cables and brake blocks.
