A FILM director is appealing for sponsorship for his scary movie.

Rick McLeod, 36, wants companies in Ellesmere Port and Neston to support his venture, either financially or by offering help and services.

His company Nevaria Productions is filming a 10-minute short called When Nature Calls, about an ancient curse and a possessed forest in the Lake District, on April 22 and 23.

Rick, who is based in Kendal, Cumbria, said: 'It's a mixture of horror and supernatural elements, with the emphasis more on the supernatural.

'It's not going to be very long but I hope to use it as a calling card and also as the basis for a full-length film.

'Most of the crew are working on it voluntarily and the cost - about £4,000 - will be paid for on my credit card.'

He added: 'What I'm urgently looking for is any company or individual in the North West that can contribute anything to the production, by way of financial support or goods and services.

'We can always find a way to manipulate even the most obscure item into the production, so anything and everything would be gratefully received.

'And, of course, it would be mentioned in the end credits.'

He then intends to enter the film in competition at national and international film festivals.
