THE Bishops’ Bluecoat School cook has retired after providing lunch for hungry Chester children for more than two decades.
Pat Bennett has cooked and served school dinners to pupils at the school for 21 years.
Before Pat’s retirement, there were three generations of her family at the school. Pat’s daughter, Dawn Toner, also works in the school canteen, and her grand-daughters Kelly and Charlotte are pupils at Bishops’.
“I loved every minute of my time at the school, hence why I stayed so long,” said Pat who has noticed a move to serve healthier food in schools over the years.
“The type of food served in schools has changed dramatically,’ she admitted.
“I plan to spend my retirement taking it easy, I’ve just brought a new motor home with my husband.”
