A BUNBURY couple who are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary say it was their love of dance which brought them together.
Blanche and George Wilgose of School Lane met at a dance in Hanley organised by Blanche’s uncle.
Blanche said: “George worked for my uncle in the Potteries and he told me that he knew a nice man that worked for him who was unattached that I might like. George then took me to a dance at his work. I loved to dance and George was a great dancer.”
After nearly four years the couple were married at College Lane Methodist Church in Bunbury on October 22 1949.
Blanche said: “It no longer exists anymore, it was then turned into a print works. It makes you realise how long 60 years is.”
George and Blanche had two children and now have four grandchildren.
George used to work in the dairy industry at St Ivel Unigate, whilst Blanche worked for the civil service based in Tarporley.
Blanche said they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with a party and have decided this time to have a quieter affair.
They spent their special day with their family and friends and will have a meal out with family soon.
