A team of mums from the Deva Cheerleading Academy (DCA) in Chester are gold standard.
The debut of DCA’s adult team at a regional competition in Leeds won them a 1st place trophy for their efforts.
Dubbed the Queen Mums, and with an average age of 39, the team, primarily made up of mothers of the team’s cheerleaders, have only been practising for a couple of months but definitely drew the loudest cheer from the crowd.
The youth team, for ages six-11, nicknamed the Divas, fought off fierce competition performing their military-themed routine to be placed third place out of six teams.
Coach Emma Ireland said: “DCA is a big family and after watching and supporting their children for so long we are happy we’ve been able to offer the opportunity for our mums to show off what they’ve got! We’re an inclusive team, with places for all, and are now proud to boast we have members aged six to 66!”
DCA will be open to new members during the first week of June and anyone wishing to get involved is welcome to join: www.devacheer.co.uk .
