A RESCUE group is desperate to find the owner of cat left in a cardboard box in the middle of a busy road.

The tortoiseshell cat, thought to be between four and eight years old, was found in a cardboard box in Great Sutton.

Gina Randall, who runs a cat rescue from her home in Great Sutton, said the cat would have been crushed to death by an oncoming vehicle had she not been promptly rescued.

She said: “We had a call on Tuesday from our vets, Littlecroft, to ask if we could help with a cat found in a box which had been placed in the middle of the road in Great Sutton

“Fortunately, a lady spotted the box and investigated. Otherwise the poor cat would have been killed by the next passing vehicle. The incident has been reported to the RSPCA.”

Gina added: “Luckily, we had a space available and I collected the cat to place with one of our fosterers.

“We have called her Demi. She is aged between four and eight years old.

“She is in good condition and very friendly, so my suspicion is that she was probably stolen

“If no owner is forthcoming, she will need a new home, so, hopefully, her plight may generate some interest from the public to adopt her after a period of time to see if anyone will report her missing.”

If anyone can help, Gina can be contacted on 0151 356 4301 or by e-mail at gina.catrescue@btinternet.com
