AN ARSON attack in the early hours of Sunday morning has seriously damaged a one million pound youth centre in Little Neston.
The roof and exterior of the popular New Youth Centre, Burton Road, Little Neston, have been destroyed at the popular site – which celebrated it’s first anniversary last month – following the fire at 5.50am on Sunday, May 16.
Cheshire police spokeswoman Jacqui Hanson said: “Police and Cheshire Fire and Rescue officers attended the scene, the fire was extinguished and the building vented of smoke. “However, the fire has left the roof and exterior of the building with serious damage.
“Early enquiries suggest that the fire was as a result of a refuse bin located at the rear of the Youth Club being set alight.
“Police have examined CCTV footage of the area and are seeking to identify a male wearing a light coloured top and light coloured bottoms who was seen acting suspiciously in the area at the time.”
