A CHESHIRE school has unveiled two new classrooms – taking its investment to more than £350,000 since becoming an academy last year.

The modern building at Delamere Primary Academy, which houses the new classrooms, is called The Ark and along with a new Jubilee Garden was officially opened by chief executive of the Education Funding Agency Peter Lauener and Eddisbury MP Stephen O’Brien.

Following the unveiling, a picnic was held on the school field and ballons were let off into the sky in celebration.

Headteacher Steve Docking said: “It was a stunning day. It marked not only the completion of a major investment but the successful establishment of our academy.

“The opening was lovely and I was very pleased with the kind words from both Stephen O’Brien and Peter Lauener.

“I thank them for spending time in our school and also Peter for the funding.

“Upon leaving, Peter paid us the greatest accolade of all saying he ‘hadn’t had so much fun at a school in years’.

“Great praise indeed from a gentlemen who controls the education budget for all schools nationally!”

The building was named The Ark by Barnaby Wallis in Year 1 as the building is all about ‘Acquiring Real Knowledge’.

Fellow Year 1 pupil Lilly Lowth drew a picture of an ark which has been framed outside the entrance to the building.

Parents and children bought a total of 150 bricks in order to make a path in the new garden.
