Students studying on the Practical Skills Floristry course at Deeside College’s Northop Campus have recently put the skills they’ve learnt to good use.

On Friday 19 th March, the group visited Llanfynydd Primary School to get pupils prepared for Easter. Working with groups from the school’s reception class and years one and two, the students helped them to create Easter baskets to take home for their parents.

Deeside College Practical Skills Tutor Jo Fisher said: “This is just one of the many activities our learners get involved in. The visit to Llanfynydd Primary School was enjoyable and beneficial for all involved. Both the students and the pupils had great fun and I’m sure the parents were delighted with their Easter gifts.”

Deeside College Head of Faculty for Land-based education, Vivienne Martin added: “It’s great to see learners getting involved in community projects such as this one. The students thoroughly enjoy working with others and passing on their newly developed skills.”

Foundation courses such as Practical Skills are available at both Deeside College campuses. Through developing life skills they aim to help students move towards independence, employment or on to mainstream college courses.
