On Wednesday, November 18, from 5pm to 8pm, Deeside College will hold their first Open Evening since the landmark merger with the Welsh College of Horticulture.

The event, which takes place at the College’s Deeside Campus, Kelsterton Road, Connah’s Quay, will showcase all courses taught by the newly merged college including those delivered at the Northop Campus - Horticulture, Floristry, Equine, Land-based Machinery and Small Animal Care.

Pupils leaving school in 2010 and their parents are invited to come along to meet the tutors and gather information and advice. The event is the first opportunity pupils will have to apply for full-time courses starting in September 2010. With many courses filling up quickly, students are encouraged to apply early to avoid missing out on a place on their chosen course.

Visitors will also be able to look around the excellent facilities including the Construction Centre, Sixth Form Centre and A Level Zone, Engineering Centre, Learning Zone, Lifestyle Fitness Suite and all three recently refurbished catering outlets on the site.

Deeside College also operates a Sporting Excellence Scholarship scheme for students with exceptional sporting abilities as well as a good academic report. Current Scholarship students will be on hand on the evening to highlight the benefits of the scheme and explain how students can apply.

Deeside College Principal and Chief Executive David Jones, said: “These are exciting times at Deeside College, with new investment in outstanding facilities and the introduction of land-based learning opportunities we’re confident that we have the best ever range of full-time courses. We look forward to meeting prospective students and their parents and can guarantee they will find a friendly welcome and plenty of information to hand.”
