COLEG Llysfasi and Deeside College have this week launched a public consultation into their proposed merger.

A consultation document, available from 10 th March 2010 gives details of the proposed merger, outlines benefits and allows interested members of the community the option to give their opinions.

The consultation will last until 9 th April 2010 and will give individuals, businesses, community groups and any other stakeholders an opportunity to comment. The public are also encouraged to attend one of the two open meetings regarding the merger which will take place from 7pm on Thursday 25 th March 2010 at Coleg Llysfasi and from 6pm on Monday 29 th March 2010 at Deeside College’s Connah’s Quay Campus.

Mr Paul Williams, Chair of the Governors for Deeside College said: “We are excited about the merger between Deeside College and Coleg Llysfasi and the benefits it would have for education, training and skills development in North East Wales.

"The public consultation document and public meetings will enable us to consult in an open and transparent manner and we look forward to hearing public opinion.”

Mr Mike Pickering OBE, Chair of the Governors for Coleg Llysfasi added: “The creation of a dynamic merged college will provide a more comprehensive, flexible and responsive curriculum offering for learners in North East Wales. It will also benefit employers and will provide security to land-based education and training in the region.”
