A hit TV show which charmed viewers across the country is returning to our screens this month.

The Secret Life of the Zoo was a ratings hit for Channel 4 earlier this year, regularly pulling in viewing figures of 2.5m.

Billed as ‘an animal version of Big Brother’, the documentary went behind the scenes at Chester Zoo with many of the zoo's keepers and animals becoming minor celebrities due to the show's popularity.

The programme also built up a legion of celebrity fans including BBC presenter Louise Minchin and Winter Olympics gold medallist Amy Williams.

Camera crews returned to the zoo earlier this year to film a second series, the first episode of which will air on Channel 4 on Thursday, November 17 at 8pm.

The date was confirmed on the Channel 4 website and also publicised in a tweet from Marketing Cheshire .
