The Daily Telegraph has named Chester in the top 10 cities in the UK.

Chester comes in ninth spot, down two places on last year, but was the highest-placed representative from the North West.

Edinburgh topped the 'Britain's 20 best cities' list, which was voted for by the paper's readers, followed by London and then York.

The Telegraph described Chester as: "Another fine medieval cathedral city, this time in north-west England.

"Chester is renowned for its shopping, its Roman walls… and its zoo."
