TWO Chester cyclists are getting into the saddle to raise money for charity.

Mike Potts, 30, of Newhall Road, Upton and his brother-in-law Paul Costello, 48, of Woodlea Avenue, Upton are cycling a gruelling 60-miles trek in North Wales for Cody Mannion 4 SMA.

The charity was set up by Stacey Madeley, of Queens Crescent, Upton to pay for a specialised Whizzybug wheelchair for her 23-month-old son Cody at a cost of more than £2,000.

Cody has Type II, or intermediate SMA, a degenerative condition which means he will never be able to walk or stand and, like many similar children, may also develop respiratory problems.

Paul, a mountain bike enthusiast, first met the toddler when his son Cameron went to the same pre-school as Cody's brother Ronan. He added: “We want to do all we can to help.

Anyone wanting to donate to the Cody Mannion 4 SMA fund can do so at any branch of Lloyds TSB.
