A RUNCORN teenager is recovering after he collided with a bus in Windmill Hill.

The 14-year-old boy was hit by a single-decker bus at the junction of Southwood Avenue and the busway at 6.30pm on Thursday, August 18.

The youngster suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Warrington hospital for emergency surgery.

He was later transferred to Alder Hey childrens hospital in Liverpool where he remained in intensive care until Friday evening.

The youngster is now recovering from his injuries in hospital with his family by his side.

A second boy, also 14, suffered leg injuries and after hospital treatment was allowed home.

The bus driver was treated for shock by paramedics at the scene.

The vehicle was impounded by police shortly after the accident as part of the inquiry.
