FACEBOOK users in Frodsham are using the power of social networking to try and boycott a town pub.

More than 150 former pub patrons have joined the group called BOYCOTT THE CHOLMONDELEY ARMS IN FRODSHAM which was set up to give unhappy customers a forum to air their views about the Church Street establishment.

Creator Linda Gibbons, 40, of Waterside Drive, Frodsham, said: “It’s great that so many people have supported it, I never thought there would be so many.

“I just wanted to ask people their point of view and get people to tell their stories.”

Writing on the website Linda describes the group as “a group I feel needed to be made for locals to express their views and concerns regarding the management of one of our local meeting places”.

“I know a lot of things have been going on and there are plenty of things to put in the group,” she added.

“There are more who don’t use Facebook but a lot more people have got stories to tell.

“I was just trying to get more people to speak about their experiences.”

The Chronicle contacted venue owners, Marston’s Pub Company, who made no comment. The pub’s licensees also declined to make a comment.

Dozens of comments have been left on a public wall on the group, one described the historic venue as “Frodsham’s public house to avoid”, another claimed “HATE this place with a passion” while others praised the group saying “you have certainly given a forum here for everyone to discuss freely their views about the town”.

Linda added: “I would like the brewery to look at it and consider if they are fit to have a licence.

“I don’t think they should be able to get away with it.

“If they carry on the way they are they won’t have any customers left.”
