A MOTHER and daughter team hope a Formula One head chef will put a village pub in pole position.

Lisle McCall, aged 29, and mum Barbara have taken over and refurbished The Crown Hotel in Tarporley. Lisle has worked in pubs for a number of years and said the family partnership has undertaken a major refurbishment.

She added: “This was a real boys’ toys pub, full of juke boxes, games machines and pool tables. We have completely gutted it and refurbished it to make it much more focused on the food and drink.

“We want to rid The Crown of its loud music and lads’ culture image and turn it back into a proper rural pub.”

Her ace card is brother-in-law Duncan Agnes. He is a former head chef for a top Formula One racing team, providing meals to multimillionaire sporting stars.

Lisle said: “Duncan travelled the world with the team and provided top quality food. He stopped the travelling once he had a family and has decided to come and work with us.”

Lisle, with the help of her partner Steve, will be introducing new ideas to the Crown including the occasional live music on a Friday and Saturday and live jazz bands on a Sunday lunchtime.
