THE girls put their glad rags on and the sun shone when the Dee Festival came to the Roodee.

The fixture was the second day of the festival, which also takes in Bangor-on-Dee.

A combined ticket allowed punters to enjoy steeplechasing, hurdling and flat racing over the two days, with more than 300 horses entered at the first stage.

Almost 13,000 race fans thronged the Roodee to enjoy the sun, the atmosphere and perhaps a successful flutter.

This year’s 13-day season at Chester comes to an end on Saturday, September 29.

The year ends in carnival style with a value ticket package. For £25, racegoers will be able to have a day in the Tattersalls enclosure with free food, a drinks voucher, a racecard and a free bet.
