THE sun shone for the Tarporley Carnival, bringing thousands out to watch the parade and join in the festival fun.
The packed parade featured floats from the schools, guide and scout groups and many more.
The theme of the parade was Myths and Legends and first prize in the float competition went to Tarporley Guides for their Little Mermaid-themed float, second prize went to Tarporley Primary School for Jason and the Argonauts, and third prize went to the rainbows, for their rainbow-themed outfits.
Organisers estimate more than 2,000 visitors attended the carnival with many gathering to watch the James Gilman Dog and Ducks, the tug of war and Wacky Tumblairs comedy trampoline act.
Stalls were set up on the field behind the community centre which ranged from a hook the duck competition to win a fish, a tombola and activities such as mini- karting and a bouncy castle for the youngsters.
David Carter of Tarporley Rotary Club said: “It was a great afternoon, we had lots of people. We were a little concerned about the weather but in the end it was a marvellously sunny day.
“All the money raised will go into the Rotary Club and Round Table charity pot and will be used to help benefit those in the village and elsewhere.”
