THE organisers of the Creamfields music festival planned for Daresbury have assured residents noise levels on the site will be closely monitored.

And they have said everything possible will be done to reduce traffic chaos at the August Bank Holiday event.

Plans are being drawn up to hold the Cream-fields festival on the Daresbury estate.

Creamfields, which attracts tops acts and a 45,000-strong crowd, has been held for seven years at the old Liverpool Airport site in Speke, but a new location is needed due to development taking place in that area.

Organisers have met representatives from the council, police and emergency services, although planning is still at an early stage.

Cream chief executive James Barton said the event would promote Halton and demonstrate the area's potential as a site for major cultural events.

A spokesman added: 'Creamfields is a music event and therefore it will create additional noise.

'We work closely with the local authority Environmental Health Department (EHD) to agree in advance the level that music can be played at during the event.

'Whilst the event is operating the EHD and the event's sound monitoring team take regular sound readings from several key areas within the site and in the surrounding areas to ensure that these levels are not exceeded.

'Creamfields has operated in the North West for the past seven years on a site closer to a major residential area and has effectively dealt with these issues.

'The companies that Creamfields works with are experts in areas of event and traffic management resulting in successful events each year with minimal complaints.'

'Creamfields also publishes a 24-hour complaints line where residents can lodge a complaint about noise or any other disruption. Each complaint is dealt with promptly and in consultation with the EHD.'
