A DAMAGED footpath which floods whenever it rains poses a danger to pedestrians, a grandmother has warned.

Jean Stockley, of Saxon Crossway in Winsford, is fed up of suffering muddy shoes and wet feet when rain fills puddles across the pavement at nearby Nixon Drive.

Mrs Stockley says the poor state of the paving means puddles fill the entire path, forcing walkers to either wade through the filthy water or step through the mud on the grass verge. Even when it isn't raining, she says the dodgy pavement could easily trip up a passer-by.

Mrs Stockley, who has four children and four grandchildren, said: 'That path is a right mess. I've ruined shoes walking through the mud - every time it rains it gets in a right state.

'You can't avoid the puddles unless you step into the road, or walk on the grass verge and that is always really muddy and slippery. With the cracks, someone could easily fall over. It could be quite dangerous for an elderly person.'

County council bosses said they were aware of problems with the paving on Nixon Drive and would be carrying out an inspection in January.

Cracked paving in nearby Northwich has also led to a number of falls. A number of elderly residents contacted the Chronicle to complain after tripping over loose paving in Northwich town centre.
