RESIDENTS in a rural community seem to be un-aware they have a national TV celebrity in their midst.

There has been speculation in Malpas that Paul Gascoigne's 19-year-old step-daughter Bianca Gascoigne, recent winner of TV reality show Love Island, resided in the village.

Her mother Sheryl has a house in Malpas and rumours of sightings of mum and daughter abound.

The puzzle was completed when Bianca appeared at Walsall Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with speeding.

She said in a letter to magistrates: 'I realise I have been silly and broken the speed limit. I was rushing back to Malpas to see my mum and my brother.'

Her address was recorded as Tilston Road, Malpas.

Parish councillor Charles Higgie, Malpas correspondent for The Chronicle, said: 'I have heard talk about her in the pub and thought there must be a local connection.'

Sue Griffith, spokeswoman for Bishop Heber High School, said: 'I knew Paul Gascoigne's ex-wife lived here. People have pointed out the house.'

Miss Gascoigne was crowned winner of the ITV show two weeks ago with Callum Best -son of another football legend George Best.

At this week's court hearing, she was fined £200 and given five penalty points for travelling at 93mph on the M6 in her Mini Cooper last March.

She was ordered to pay £35 costs and may face further court action after it emerged she might only hold a provisional licence.
