A MAN has appeared in court charged with a spate of burglaries across Chester, Helsby and Neston.

Phillip Ainsworth, 23, of Beatrice Avenue, Bebington appeared at Chester Magistrates Court charged with stealing thousands of pounds worth of jewellery and electrical goods.

Ainsworth’s arrest follows police visiting homes across Merseyside on August 5 arresting four men who are allegedly connected with the crimes.

It is alleged that between June and August 4 this year, the gang targeted homes across Chester, Neston and Helsby where jewellery and electrical goods were stolen.

Earlier this month, Michael Jones, 27, from Charles Price Gardens, Ellesmere Port, Adam Orr, 19, from Solly Avenue, Rock Ferry, Matthew Wallace, 21 from Rosalind Avenue, Bebington, and a juvenile male aged 16 from Birkenhead, appeared before Chester magistrates.

The men were charged in connection with a burglary at a house in Hargrave on August 4, where a Lexus car and thousands of pounds worth of goods property were stolen.

All have been remanded in custody.

Two men and a woman, also from Merseyside, were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods and will appear at Chester Magistrates Court on August 24.
