A MAN and woman will share their wedding with millions of viewers after their ceremony was recorded for an ITV documentary.

No wedding planner was needed for Wendy Squire and Neil Robinson who wanted to make their special day all the more memorable by inviting TV cameras to follow them in the run-up to the big event.

But all had not run smoothly for bride-to-be Wendy who was faced with a bridal couture nightmare just weeks before her big day, due to be broadcast before the nation in the summer.

Attending Neil's best man's wedding in Gretna Green, she was shocked to find the bride wearing the same wedding dress as her own.

Not one to be fazed, Wendy, who lives with Neil, 47, on The Hurst, Kingsley, soon secured herself a new dress borrowed from a bridal shop.

'I wouldn't have dreamed for a minute my 'something borrowed' would be my wedding dress,' said Wendy.

The couple met when Wendy, 35, began working at Neil's office.

Although they'd discussed marriage, they had never actually set a date - until something terrible happened to Neil.

'Neil's a diabetic and about 12 months ago his blood sugar went so low he fell unconscious under a hot tap. He got severe burns to his hand and neck, his circulation had stopped in his fingers and there was a possibility they would have to amputate the tops of his fingers.'

He spent a few days in the burns unit but made a full recovery.

'It's not until something bad happens to somebody that you realise how much you love each other,' said Wendy.

'That was when we decided to get married.'

The couple, who are honeymooning in South Africa, were chosen for the documentary after Wendy applied to an advert on a website.
