A TRIBE of Zulu warriors, a fearless motorcycle display team and a team of performing dogs are just some of the highlights of this year's Cheshire County Show.

The Cheshire Show is the largest country show in the North West and is expected to attract more than 60,000 people, thousands of horses, cattle and dogs, and a few famous faces when it gets under way on June 20 and 21.

TV botanist, author and broadcaster Professor David Bellamy will be making an appearance to open the show's new Game Fair attraction.

Nigel Evans, executive director of the Cheshire Show, said: 'We are really lucky that David Bellamy is making a guest appearance.

'During his career David has written over 45 books and presented some 400 television programmes so it's a great honour for the show.'

Nigel added: 'We always strive to provide new and appealing sections each year to help keep the show fresh for visitors.'

One of the most unusual attractions at this year's show is a tribe of Zulu warriors, who will perform a dazzling display of song, dance and mime in the Main Show Arena.

'The Mighty Zulu Nation company has performed for the Queen, Nelson Mandela and Archbishop Desmond Tutu - and we're sure their performance will be a memorable experience for Cheshire visitors too,' said Nigel.

'The spectacular sight of a tribe of Zulu warriors mixing with the traditional attractions at Cheshire Show will be very exciting to see,' he added.

Now in its 168th year, the Cheshire Show was originally established as an agricultural event, but has expanded to include a wide range of attractions.

The theme of this year's show is Connecting People to the Countryside.
