The Countess of Chester Hospital is celebrating its 30th anniversary.

To commemorate this special landmark the Trees of Light Appeal is to become the Trees of Life Appeal. It’s hoped that this will encourage people to celebrate the lives of many people who are special to them for a wide range of reasons, as well as remembering loved ones have passed away.

A spokesperson from the countess said: “As we get closer to Christmas it’s a time for reflection on what 2014 has meant to you and your family.

“Maybe this has been the year someone was born in to your family or someone has left. A special birthday or anniversary may have been celebrated. A silver, ruby, golden and especially diamond wedding anniversary are all to be congratulated.

“You may want to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one who is no longer here but will always have a special place in your heart.”

You can celebrate the life of somebody close to you and support charity at the same time by sponsoring a light on one of the tres.

Funds raised will help support bereavement counselling and the Babygrow Appeal.

Each light represents a loved person and the names of those celebrated will be published in the commemorative brochure which will be available at the switch on services.

The switch on service at The Countess of Chester Hospital takes place on Friday, December 5, at 6pm. The book of honour will be on display from 5.15pm

The switch on service at Ellesmere Port Hospital takes place on Monday, December 8, at 6pm, the book of honour will be on display in the quiet room.
