Councillors splash out of plants to improve Kingsway area

COUNCILLORS have given autumn a splash of greenery this year in the Kingsway area of Newton Ward.

Using their councillors' budgets, Tom Parry and Adrian Walmsley funded a selection of plants which were ably planted by green-fingered chairman of the Kingsway and Newton Residents’ Association (KANRA), Ann Charlton.

“Residents and visitors to the shops always stop to speak to us when we are working in the flower beds, and comment on the area,” she said.

Cllr Parry added, “Adrian and I funded the plants, the officer team and contractor had them delivered and Ann and her colleagues planted them – that’s what I call team work!”
