A BOROUGH councillor was left stunned when her garden gnome developed wanderlust.
Sue Kettle returned home one day recently to find the garden ornament had disappeared.
Then she received a postcard showing him in Wales.
The picture portrays the gnome being held up in front of a road sign saying 'Welcome to Welshpool' but Cllr Kettle has no idea how it got there.
A message written on the back says: 'I decided I didn't want to live in your garden any more, so have gone off travelling.
'My first port of call was Welshpool. Met some new friends and they are going to buy me some new clothes and look after me and show me the world. I'm going to discover new cultures.
'I had my first pint down here. Am now going off to see some sheep. I'll be in touch soon. Lots of love, Gnome.'
Cllr Kettle is now awaiting his next postcard, and said: 'It's all very amusing.'
