THREE newborn foals need names and staff at the Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre have invited the public to pick the perfect titles for the trio.

Alistair King, who runs the award-winning centre with wife Janet, said: “It has been a busy start to the year but we are absolutely delighted with the latest additions to the Cotebrook ‘family’.

“All three foals were born without any complications, are standing strong, feeding well and are in good general health.”

The unique centre, the only one of its kind in the UK, hasn’t yet named the three newcomers and is appealing to visitors to come up with suitable names.

“We name all our males after Scottish mountains and females after Scottish lochs. We would like to encourage visitors to come along and see the foals and put forward their suggestions to be in with a chance of winning a great prize,” added Alistair.

Potential names can be emailed to info@cotebrookshirehorses.co.uk or dropped off to Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre, Cotebrook, Cheshire, CW6 9DS. The closing date for all entries is Sunday, February 28, 2010.

The unnamed foals now join over 20 other horses at the centre, including stallions, mares and foals, which are often roaming the fields and can be seen ‘up close’ by visitors.

The centre has bred some of the world’s top shire horses over the years.

It is a working stud farm and incorporates a beautiful country park where visitors can enjoy an abundance of wildlife – from badgers and owls to otters, red foxes, red squirrels and red deer.
