CORONATION Street star Samia Ghadie will visit Chester this weekend to help launch a city fashion event.
The 30-year-old actress, who plays hairdresser Maria Connor in the soap will swap the cobbles for the shops when she appears at Grosvenor Shopping Centre’s Fashion Flash weekend.
The three-day event will begin with a makeover day on Friday, November 2, complete with tips to create top party looks from make-up artists at Debenhams and David Huraine, from Regis.
Samia will arrive at Grosvenor Shopping Centre on Saturday morning to meet and greet fans before leading the crowd to a secret location for the launch of a number of flash mobs.
Models wearing clothes from LK Bennett, Animal, River Island, Dorothy Perkins and Jigsaw will be dancing at sporadic moments in Grosvenor Shopping Centre throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Samia said: “We are at that time of year when people are starting to shop for their Christmas party outfits and I know the Fashion Flash event will certainly inspire me to get thinking about what to wear and how to create a fun look this Christmas.
“I’ve always loved dance and the Fashion Flash mobs are a fantastic idea.
“It will be great to see the looks on everyone’s faces when they start performing – I can’t wait!”
And a free special edition magazine, Fashion Flash, has been created by the Grosvenor team which features hints and tips on party style, as well as where to bag the outfits worn by the flash mob dancers.
Julie Webb, general manager of the Grosvenor Shopping Centre said:
“Samia is always cited on the fashion pages of national magazines and she never puts a foot wrong when it comes to her style.
“We really hope shoppers get into the party spirit and make the most of the fantastic array of shops and free advice they have at their disposal here at the centre.”
