TEN-YEAR-OLD Thomas Mabbitt's dreams came true when he won a trip to Disneyland Paris.

He scooped the prize, courtesy of Thomas Cook at the Port Arcades, after entering a colouring contest in the shopping centre.

Among the attractions at the family fun day, celebrating the completion of the second phase of a multi-million-pound development project, was the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Organisers ran a colouring contest in which children competed to win a family holiday for four to the resort in Paris.

Thomas, who attends Childer Thornton Primary School, said: 'I've always wanted to go to Disneyland. My dad always said I could go when I was older but now I have won this competition, it's a dream come true.

'My five-year-old brother, Cameron, will especially love the rides and will be over the moon meeting Goofy.'

Thomas' mum, Sarah, said: 'One of his favourite subjects at school is art.

'It's quite fitting he won because he is working on a week-long art project at school. I'm not sure where he gets his artistic ability from.'

Port Arcades centre manager Les Lyon said: 'The standard of entries was fantastic, making the competition extremely difficult to judge.

'Thomas just topped it with his resourceful use of tin foil, though each picture showed a great deal of skill and invention.'

Runners up, who each receive a scale model of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, are: Venicia Daly, five, and Levi Keating, seven, both from Ellesmere Port; Ami Doling, 11, from Whitby, Amy Edwards, 10, of Connah's Quay, and Millie Fullerton, six, of Great Swinton.
