CONSENT was granted for the replacement of an unauthorised supermarket sign.
The application arose at the Aldi food store on Ladies Walk, Neston where plans were put forward for a 4m high, double sided, internally illuminated sign located between Ladies Walk and the store car park.
The existing 6m high sign, which does not have planning permission, would be removed, Cheshire West and Chester Council was told.
Neston Civic Society objected arguing the existing signage at the store, adjacent to Neston Station, was adequate but planners confirmed the present sign would be replaced.
No objections were raised by conservation officers, neighbours or by the highway authority.
Describing the application as "modest", planning officers said the sign would not be out keeping with the character of the area and would not detract from visual amenity. They recommended approval and the council agreed that consent could be granted.
