Concern for welfare forces road closure in Chester

A BUSY road in Chester has been closed amid concerns for the safety of a woman on a bridge.

The A5480, close to the Deva Link, is shut between Saughall Road and Blacon Avenue roundabout as police speak to a woman on the canal bridge.

Cheshire police spokeswoman Shelley Smith said: “At 3.40pm today (Thursday, June 20) police were called to the canal bridge over the Deva Link way in Blacon following concerns for the welfare of a woman.

“Officers are currently at the scene and temporary road closures are in place. The A5480 is currently closed between Saughall Road and Blacon Avenue roundabout. Drivers are advised to avoid the area if possible and seek an alternative route.”
