ACTION has been agreed to deal with overgrown and untidy land in Great Sutton.

The borough council received a complaint last September about the untidy condition of a property in Northern Rise, where the dwelling and land were said to be in a 'poor state'.

Concerns were expressed that the gardens were overgrown and the house had broken windows which might attract potential vandalism and intruders. There was also a build-up of litter and debris.

Two letters were sent to the owner of the land but no reply had been received, the council's planning committee was told in a report.

Housing officers had also written without success.

At their May meeting, councillors heard the site remains 'extremely untidy' and affects the amenity of the area.

They were shown photographs of the property, said to be 'very over-grown and untidy' with a lot of rubbish.

Community safety officers said there was the potential for fly-tip-ping and anti-social behaviour.

The committee authorised enforcement action to clear and restore the land to a clean and tidy condition. n At the same meeting, councillors decided on enforcement action to deal with overgrown and untidy land in Parkgate.
